Just wondering if anyone has any advice as to weather or not taking a couple weeks or an entire month off during interview season is a good idea?  What month is an interview-heavy month?  I have some free time to play around with and I'm not sure when to schedule it...leaning towards taking December off....any other suggestions?

Time off during interviews is a solid idea. Would do it in November.

My interview season peaked

My interview season peaked the week before and the week of Thanksgiving. I probably could have scheduled one every day if it had been geographically feasable. (Don't even think about doing that, it's insanity. Interviews are more tiring than you think.)

They start in early October, but pick up more towards the end of that month. I think the latest one this year was Dec 22. I managed to get November and December off. I talked to a lot of people who were doing light rotations or "research" during interviews. This meant that they sometimes had to fly home to do a shift in the ER or a day of clinic. Some places only interview on Saturday, some are duing the week. It just depends. I'd say the key is to get as flexable a schedule as possible.
