Step Score

Step 1: 248 Step 2: 268 Board scores are just to get your foot into the door for an interview. After that, I don't think they matter much. 28/30 interviews received. Matched at my top choice.

Can you 220-230-range-step1

Can you 220-230-range-step1 matchers give us some extra insight on what other parts of your app really helped you out? Like was it having a lot of research, or really good letters. And also were your 3rd year grades stellar and/or were you top of your class?  Thanks a lot

Step 1 227, Step 2 250I thought the 227 was really going to hurt me, but I worked hard to build up the rest of my application. The things I worked on most were my third year grades (honored all but one including surgery and medicine) and research (5 pubs, 7 abstracts). The thing that most of my interviewers mentioned in the interviews was my letters. Urology is such a small community that everyone knows each other and when they read a letter from someone they know they trust their judgement on what type of person you are. I think Urology is one of those fields that genuinely looks at the application as a whole, not just how you look on paper and your step 1 scores.

I'd be welcome to share any tips, but in what direction? There are hundreds of variables in this match process. Also, I think I dont want to saturate the response field here, I think someone is looking for pure numbers (but as you can see from my scores, not really important).

Step 1: mid 240s Step 2: high

Step 1: mid 240sStep 2: high 270s I took step 2 before interviews and I really felt it helped get me some interviews. With that said, I matched at a place that offered an interview before I got step 2 back that was my number one, but I think it probably helped my ranking.
