Interview Offers

Hey guys, so I saw where someone posted that UAB had sent out their first round of invites, so I thought it would be wise to start a new thread specifically for actual offers and their respective dates. That way there won't be any confusion with the other thread that was listing interview dates before ERAS even opened on the 15.According to a previous poster, UAB has sent out invites for October 3, 26 and November 20.If someone could confirm this that'd be awesome! Post them as they come guys and I'm looking forward to hopefully meeting some of yall on the interview trail!! :-D

Yep Redbull- nothing special, pretty average for the field, I think. Decent Step 1, not AOA, some pubs. I have no idea why I've been so fortunate

Any chance you did an away at USC? My stats look nearly identical to yours (couple of extra pubs, pass in psych - oops). I'm hoping there's nothing grotesquely wrong with my application, but it's more likely I just need a piece of humble pie.

When you post IV offers for the first time, mind posting generalized stats?  Especially interested in those getting CCF and Wake..Confidence level: sub basement...  Not all my letters are in. Anyone know if they'll re-review apps and send other waves? Not familiar with the process from years past...

Not just scores

Offers today:Cleveland Clinic, Wake Forest, UTMB, Maimonides.Step 1 <230, not AOA, top tier med school, strong letters from a couple big names, lots of pubs, presentations and podiums.  So I guess the first pass for CC/WF can't be just about scores/grades.

raddywog
yup

I know where you're coming from, but I'm also concerned about maintaining anonymity so I don't want to post anything too identifying. So far I've gotten Wake and UTMB, hoping to hear from UAB/USC/CC but didn't get interviews on the first (only?) pass. I tried searching through previous years' threads to see if USC and CC do multiple waves of invites, but it's still a mystery to me.I think I'm a pretty average candidate grades/scores-wise but I've got a few publications/posters, my home department has a strong rep, and I have a couple of big name letters. I don't know how much the pubs/letters matter at this stage of the game -- it seems to me the invites at the big names might be based primarily on scores early on. Maybe the second wave of invitations (if there is a second wave) will focus more on the total package. One can hope.
I'm in the same boat right now -- Wake and UTMB so far, no word from USC/CC. I searched the forums (here and SDN) and I'm pretty sure that last year USC did send out additional interviews a week later (I think the first ones were around 9/20 last year and another person got a call 9/29), so there might still be time, esp considering we're 2 weeks delayed from last year. I also have nothing better to do right now than speculate, though, so who knows. As for stats, went to a school with a strong program, average clerkship grades, couple of pretty strong recs. No uro research but a poster and paper in another field. Pretty decent step 1.

Step 1 screen

It seems that the Step 1screening by coordinators has eliminated me as well. I have average scores too, but was hoping to compensate by +10 publications (Inc some at the Eur J of Urol) , numerous AUA presentations, posters and strong letters. I even have a pretty high AUA Inservice Exam score under my belt which I thought would counter a PDs concern that I would underperform in the board exam (which is the main reason they screen by scores) , but it seems that the Step 1score outweighs this all. It's still early, though. We'll see.
