CLINICAL CHALLENGE: A RARE TESTICULAR TUMOR

Urology (Gold Journal) In Press - Thu, 06/10/2021 - 00:00
We present the case of a 22-year-old male that comes to the Urology clinic with the incidental finding of a testicular mass. Typical findings in echography will guide us towards the diagnosis of an epidermoid cyst.1,2 This type of infrequent benign tumor is responsible for only around 2% of all testicular tumors.1 Because of this low incidence literature regarding epidermoid cysts is scarce. Treatment has been susceptible to change throughout the years. 6 In this clinical case we challenge readers to review a rare tumor and to choose the most appropriate treatment for our patient.

Trends in the uptake of diagnostic multi-parametric MRI of the prostate with Federal funding: Australia population data

Urology (Gold Journal) In Press - Thu, 06/10/2021 - 00:00
In recent years, there has been an expanding role for multi-parametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging (mpMRI) in the workup of prostate cancer. There is growing evidence suggesting the utilisation of mpMRI increases clinically significant prostate cancer detection and reduces prostate biopsy rates1. Furthermore, there are suggestions that mpMRI may help guide the management of patients with prostate cancer 2, 3. In keeping with this, the European Association of Urology (EAU) prostate cancer guidelines now strongly recommend that mpMRI should be performed prior to biopsy 4.

Management mandates a multidisciplinary and symptom-based approach. Intravesical treatments such as instillation therapies remain a cornerstone of most treatment algorithms and there are a range of agents that can be selected. This review offers an up-to-date evaluation of the evidence for these intravesical treatments.
