Interviews and Rank List

I was curious what the general concensus is on the final rank list and whether everyone includes every program they interviewed at, or do some dare not rank a program once they find out more about it?How about attending an interview at a place your suspcious about, knowing that you really don't want to be there, but knowing an interview might change your mind? Obviously, a spot is a spot, period. However, I got into a discussion with a fellow applicant on my last interview and we touched on the topic of not ranking programs after an interview, and I was curious what everyone's thoughts were. Thanks!

Not ranking a program means

Not ranking a program means you would rather not be a urologist than train there.  If for whatever reason, that's how you feel about a program, then you shouldn't rank it.  Otherwise you should rank every program.

Tangential question

Tangential question: where do we go to even access the preference list? Also, what should we be doing w/regards to the NRMP match? As far as your question, only rank places you'd be willing to go, and rank all of them.  That's all you can do, as far as I see it, other than writing thank-you notes and going on "second looks", if need be.

I also have ten, though I

I also have ten, though I have met people on the trail with fewer. Like everyone else, just went to all I could, did my best, and keeping my fingers crossed I wind up at a top choice.

its all in the numbers

it may seem misleading hearing about the number of interviews ppl got.  What also is important in knowing is how many applications sent out.  if you have someone with 15 interviews, but sent out 60+ applications, it doesnt sound as great as someone who sent only 30.I would just take any info you get on the trail with a grain of salt, and know that with 10 (or almost 10 interviews), you are probably in a good position.G luck!

Not ranking a program means

Not ranking a program means you DO NOT want to go to that program, you are willing to brave not matching, brave the scamble or try to enter a program after a year of gen surg.  It does not necessarily mean you would rather not be a urologist than go there.  Yes, it is difficult to match after the first round, but not impossible.  Some people might have a line with regards to some programs.
