Biggest surprise: Miami. I think it used to be malignant so nobody I talked to had much to say about it but I was really surprised when I interviewed. Well-organized day, residents were cool, liked the faculty, strong clinical training... Their (infamous?) chairman has stepped down & while they're looking for a chairman (they almost got Mani Menon) they're still growing, they've hired 3 new faculty this year & the new chair will probably bring at least 1 more. In general I felt like this is a program on the rise and though I wasn't psyched to go there initially, ended up ranking them pretty well. Best food: lunch at UTMB (Galveston, TX) at this super nice latin american restaurant, we could order whatever we wanted & it was GOOD. OSU wins an honorable mention for ordering more food than I've ever seen, I think every appetizer on the menu was ordered (some multiple times) & we still got drinks, entrees, and dessert (not that anyone had room for it). Worst food: every place that did open bar + appetizers w/o dinner; went home hungry every timeBest interview: UCSF, the questions were more introspective, felt like they were really trying to get to know me beyond my application & I could talk about something beyond my stock answers about my research/hobbies/etc. Worst interview: one of my Cincinnati interviewers spent the entire interview talking about how religion is stupid, false, & evil. It's also the cause of all human conflicts and w/o it there would be no racism/sexism/etc. Spent a lot of time nodding and smiling and waiting for the knock on the door.Best (or Worst) Overall Interview Season Moment:Best: any time I got to have drinks (and/or dinner) with my fellow interviewees after the interview day, it's great to know there's so many cool people going into the field!Worst: one of the residents at a mid-tier midwest program got smashed at the dinner & was ridiculous: he interrogated the people around him & would say "is THAT what you think?" in response, turned to the person next to him and said something like "f**ing med students, I'm so sick of this shit," hit on the waitresses, and all in all was a total class act. Thankfully not reflective of the program as a whole from the rest of my time there.
It is blatantly obvious that Henry Ford is the "Worst" program that you are refering to. I am not sure I would call Henry Ford mid-tier given that they have Mani Menon (though we all know he is gone, and the word on the street is that Elder is following him to Columbia). But yea that henry ford resident was an @$$hat and will be one of the many reasons for henry ford matching poorly. (though a chairman lying to interviewees about his intentions, when everyone knows the truth also doesn't help)
I'm a current resident (not henry ford) but badmouthing residents (no matter what they said or did) and calling chairmen "liars" on a public forum is not OK.

Thats the whole point of the forum is give opinions. And if you are a current resident, don't you have better things to do than troll urologymatch.com?

2010 Interview Season Awards(answer as you wish, add your own categories if you want)Biggest surprise: Baylor really surprised me. I know that it has always been a great program, but all that you hear on forums like these about the methodist issue and what not makes you wonder. But they made all those worries quickly melt away. It's truly a fantastic training program and anyone would be lucky to match there. Biggest disappointment: Probably AECOM in NYC. Very strange vibes the whole day. Some of the attendings don't seem interested at all. Best food: Surprisingly, Loma Linda put on a real nice spread at the dinner. Worst food: George Washington. offered nothing but deep fried samplers. Best organized: University of Washington and Baylor Worst organized: Temple Best interview: Baylor (see a trend?)Worst interview: UIC, wanted to get out as soon as possible. far far away. Best (or Worst) Overall Interview Season Moment: Being at one of my last interviews and going out for drinks after with people that I had met on the interview trail on several occasions and feeling like I was out with old friends.

From a current Henry Ford resident, it really sucked to have a single resident (and their personal problems, ie. alcoholism) reflect badly on the whole program, which all the current residents are happy to be part of. Unfortunately, that resident was recently let go from the program after being given many chances and as much support as a program can offer. And our chairman has never lied about his intentions, quite the opposite in fact - whenever he considered other options (which chairmen do all the time and probably don't tell you about it) he always tells current and potential residents. I'm not sure what you mean by "when everyone knows the truth" when our chairman is still here and isn't going anywhere. And if he doesn't bring it up this coming interview season it's because he's not considering any other options, and I will let you hear it from him when the time comes.
