The Department of Urology at NYU Winthrop Hospital, located in Mineola, New York is hiring a full time research analyst.
The position of the research analyst is to perform the day to day tasks of a research project, including collecting and processing data, and updating project databases. This position works closely with the Data Coordinator to utilize the department’s extensive prostate and bladder cancer databases, which provide the information needed to develop research hypotheses and independent projects. In addition to submission for publication, all completed research projects will have the opportunity to be submitted as abstracts to national Urology and Oncology conferences held throughout the year. In 2017, our research group had a total of eleven abstracts accepted to national conferences and nine research papers accepted to top urology journals.
In addition, the Department of Urology currently has eight active clinical trials. Research analysts are encouraged to assist the Research Coordinator in at least one of these clinical trials to experience the research process in a clinical setting. The Research Analyst will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of trials and departmental studies per study protocol, including trial applications to the IRB, financial and programmatic compliance, and patient enrollment criteria and data collection.
We are looking for applicants who have completed (or will soon complete) their Bachelor's or MD degree and have a career goal of becoming a physician or research scientist. The ideal candidate is an independent worker who is interested in learning about clinical research processes, and highly motivated to produce and publish research abstracts and papers. Additionally, the applicant should be comfortable recruiting and communicating with patients in the clinic over the telephone.
